Bay of Kotor

Boka Kotorska is the most beautiful and southernmost bay in Europe. Mountain ranges rise above the narrow coast, protecting this region from the cold continental climate. The natural division of 4 smaller bays: Herceg Novi, Risan, Kotor and Tivat make the Bay of Kotor unique. Like strung pearls on a coastal necklace, there are small towns, rich in history and culture: Kotor, Perast, Risan, Herceg Novi and Tivat. Often mentioned as the southernmost fjord in Europe, the Bay of Kotor is actually a river canyon. High mountains, which rise above the coast, protect the bay from the open sea and the cold climate in winter. This allows a variety of Mediterranean vegetation to flourish in these areas: palm trees, oleander, kiwi, pomegranate and medicinal plants. The distance between Trebinje and Kotor is 80 km.
